Lion's Pride Information

We hope this will be a place to answer most of your questions about the marching ensemble. Please take a moment and check out this short documentary about our growing ensemble.

What is it?

Marching Band is a competitive organization that combines music with movement and visuals to create a whole other creative medium for the enjoyment of music. This group of committed and motivated musicians works together to perform in front of thousands of people every year. To participate in the marching band, members must audition and meet all participate requirements.

Who is it for?

The Pride of Daniel has the incredible opportunity to perform for thousands of people each fall. Those who have a passion for music and performance will really shine as a member of the Pride! All high school students are invited to be part of the Pride, and 8th grade students from EMS who earned a seat in either All County, Region, or All State Honor Band.

How do I sign up?

Students who want to register should have their parents register them online here. Once the online registration is finished you should turn in your $250 deposit (towards the 2018-2019 fair share) and medical form to the EMS or DHS Band office. That will complete your registration and reserve your spot in the ensemble.

When is our first rehearsals?

The first rehearsals will be our spring camps coming up. Be sure to put them on your calendar and attend to get all the information and stay up-to-date. Dates and times can be found below.

 

Leadership

One of the things that makes our organization unique is the large role student leaders play in everyday rehearsal and performance. Our first leadership interest meeting will be from 1pm - 2pm Saturday March 4th. (Bring a lunch if needed). Students who are interested should take a look at the application below and submit their materials to the Band office by April 18th. 

Drum Major auditions will take place April 18th after school. Post application interviews for all leaders will take place after camp on April 29th. Leaders will be announced before our final spring camp May 20th. 

Spring Camps

Our annual spring camps help us prepare for the competitive fall season. Students who are interested in performing with the marching ensemble are encourage to attend all three but are only required to make two. Information about the fall season will be given out at the first spring camp meeting. 

Spring camp dates are:

  • Sat. March 31st - 9am to noon
  • Sat. April 28th - 9am to noon
  • Sat. May 19th - 9am to noon

 

Summer camp

Our summer camp usually takes place several weeks before school begins each fall. This is the time our ensemble learns the bulk of the music, movement, and procedures as part of the Lion's Pride. Attendance at the summer camp is mandatory, and those who are unable to attend will march an alternate spot for the fall season.

Summer camp dates are:

  • July 30th - August 3rd - 8am to 5pm each day
  • August 6th - August 10th - 8am to 5pm each day
